Bring HOSA to Your School

Don't have a HOSA chapter at your school? You can help start one! Starting a chapter is a great way to demonstrate leadership, serve your school community, and create opportunities for your peers.

Why Start a Chapter?

  • Be a founding member of something meaningful
  • Develop leadership and organizational skills
  • Provide healthcare career opportunities for students at your school
  • Make a lasting impact that benefits students for years to come
  • Stand out on college applications with demonstrated initiative

Start a New Chapter

To start a DC HOSA chapter, you'll need:

  1. A Faculty Advisor: Find a teacher (preferably in health science, biology, or career/technical education) willing to serve as chapter advisor
  2. Interested Students: Gather at least 5-10 students interested in joining
  3. School Administration Approval: Your advisor will work with school leadership to approve the chapter
  4. Affiliation with DC HOSA: Complete the chapter affiliation process through the state office

How to Start a chapter Step by Step

  • School counseling office

What to say: "I'm interested in starting a HOSA chapter at our school because [your reason]. HOSA provides students with competitive events, leadership opportunities, and connections to healthcare careers. Would you be interested in serving as our chapter advisor? I can connect you with the state office for support."
