Once HOSA, Always HOSA

Your time as a DC HOSA member may have ended, but your connection to the organization doesn't have to. Whether you're now in college, pursuing your healthcare career, or already working as a professional, there are meaningful ways to stay connected and give back.

Why Stay Involved?

For You:

  • Stay connected to a community that shaped your journey
  • Network with fellow HOSA alumni across healthcare careers
  • Give back and mentor the next generation
  • Continue developing leadership and professional skills
  • Make a lasting impact on students following your path

For Current Students:

  • Your story inspires them
  • Your mentorship guides them
  • Your professional connections open doors
  • Your support shows them what's possible

Ways to Give Back to DC HOSA

1. Mentor Current Students

Share your journey and guide students exploring similar paths.

  • Career Shadowing: Host a student for a day at your workplace
  • Virtual Q&A: Join a chapter meeting to answer questions about your career
  • Application Review: Help students with college essays, resumes, or scholarship applications
  • Competition Coaching: Share expertise in your field to help students prepare for events

Interested? Email HOSADistrictofColumbia@gmail.com with:

  • Your name and years active in DC HOSA
  • Current career/education status
  • How you'd like to get involved

2. Speak at Events

Inspire members at conferences or chapter meetings.

  • Keynote addresses at State Leadership Conference
  • Workshop sessions on specific topics (career paths, college success, professional skills)
  • Panel discussions with other alumni
  • Chapter visits to share your story

We're always looking for alumni speakers who can motivate and educate our members!

3. Support Competitive Events

Help students prepare for and succeed in competition.

  • Serve as an event judge at State Leadership Conference
  • Provide expertise in your field for students preparing for related events
  • Donate materials or resources for competitive event preparation
  • Host practice sessions or mock competitions

4. Join the HOSA 100 Advisory Board

Provide strategic guidance and connections.

If you're established in your healthcare career and want to contribute at an organizational level, consider joining the HOSA 100 Advisory Board. Board members:

  • Advise on DC HOSA's strategic direction
  • Connect DC HOSA with partnership opportunities
  • Support fundraising and sustainability efforts
  • Advocate for HOSA in professional spaces

Qualifications: Healthcare professionals with 3+ years of experience committed to supporting youth development.

5. Share Your Story

Inspire current members by sharing your HOSA experience.

  • Alumni Spotlight: Be featured on our website or social media
  • "Where Are They Now?": Share updates on your career journey
  • Testimonials: Write a brief statement about how HOSA impacted your life

Your story matters. Seeing where alumni have gone shows current students what's possible.

6. Provide Financial Support

Help ensure every student has access to HOSA opportunities.

Financial contributions support:

  • Scholarships for students attending conferences
  • Chapter grants for schools with limited resources
  • Competitive event preparation materials
  • Leadership development programs

Ways to give:

  • One-time donation
  • Monthly recurring support
  • Sponsor a student's conference registration
